About This Place

City Winery Chicago is a truly exceptional destination that seamlessly blends the culinary art of a refined restaurant with the dynamic energy of a live music venue and the sophisticated charm of a wine bar and winery. Located in the vibrant West Loop at 1200 W Randolph St, this multifaceted venue delivers a unique experience that appeals to food lovers, music enthusiasts, and wine aficionados alike.

The cuisine at City Winery showcases a thoughtfully curated menu influenced by rustic Italian flavors and American comfort. For dinner, the Imported Italian Burrata is a standout starter—creamy, luscious cheese served alongside ripe roma tomatoes, fresh basil, and toasted ciabatta that awaken the palate with every bite. The Calamari, lightly fried and served over a bed of garlic oil and fiery arrabiata sauce, offers a delightful balance of crispness and spice that leaves you craving more. For those looking for something rich and decadent, the Mushroom and Goat Cheese Risotto Balls with their savory, crispy exterior paired with a tangy arrabiata dipping sauce perfectly embody comfort food with a gourmet twist. The artfully plated Artisanal Cheese assortment brings a luxurious variety of flavors complemented by a selection of breads and dipping sauces, ideal for sharing or savoring slowly with one of their exquisite wines.

Lunch options are equally appealing, with the Caprese Sandwich presenting a fresh, tangy combination of mozzarella, red bell pepper aioli, and balsamic glaze all nestled within a grilled baguette that’s both crunchy and chewy. The Beyond Burger caters thoughtfully to vegetarian diners, served on a house-made bun alongside crispy fries that are golden and satisfying. For meat lovers, the Grilled Chicken Sandwich is an inviting medley of creamy avocado, smoky bacon, and vibrant chimichurri aioli that elevate this classic sandwich to new heights. The Kale Caesar Salad surprises with its baby kale leaves, creamy dressing, shaved parmesan, and za'atar croutons, delivering a fresh and herbaceous twist on a traditional favorite.

The atmosphere at City Winery Chicago is an intoxicating blend of urban chic and warm intimacy; one instantly feels whisked away to a modern wine country estate right in the heart of Chicago. The exposed brick walls, sleek industrial accents, and soft lighting come together to create a setting that is both upscale and inviting. Several reviewers praise the accessible and clear sightlines to the stage, highlighting that "no seat is a bad seat," ensuring every guest can fully immerse themselves in the live music experience. The buzz of the crowd and the sound of exquisite live performances amplify the venue's electric vibe, though certain patrons do note the lively volume occasionally challenges quiet conversation—a testament to the authenticity of the concert atmosphere.

Real customer experiences paint a vivid picture of City Winery’s strengths. The Reese Law Center applauds the impeccable organization and friendly, cohesive wait staff, emphasizing the seamless flow from seating to showtime. Keenan Walker’s glowing account of the holiday brunch and jazz event highlights the accommodating hosts, comfortable capacity, full bar, and diverse drink menu that nicely complement their pleasing buffet fare. Helga Plas appreciates the flavorful dishes such as hanger steak and grilled salmon, paired with a lively and engaging ambiance. While Yulia Pers finds the portions on the smaller side, she acknowledges the intimate décor and superb acoustics, which altogether make the live music feel close and immersive. Even critiques about service underscore the venue’s overall appeal and the genuine enjoyment patrons find here.

Whether you’re seeking a memorable dinner paired with world-class wines, a vibrant event space with top-tier live music, or simply a stylish spot to unwind with friends, City Winery Chicago delivers an experience that engages all the senses. It’s a destination that speaks to both the serious wine lover and the passionate music fan, all wrapped in an inviting, polished, and unforgettable urban setting.

Upscale venue. Very organized with getting guest seated in a timely manner pre show. Wait staff worked as a team to ensure good service. Kale salads are excellent. No seat is a bad seat for viewing. Be warned mezzanine seating may be a little snug with other patrons seated at the same table. And of course Boney James and other artists accompanying him were iconic!

We enjoyed the holiday brunch and Puresoul Presents: Jazz & Soul Christmas Spectacular. The show was fantastic and the venue very nice! The hosts were very pleasant & accommodating, and there was ample space for the approx. 200 guests there. Most seats seemed to have a clear view of the stage. There's a full bar and an extensive drink menu. Most of the food in the buffet was pleasing; however, there were no non-pork options for those who wanted meat. The desserts were either bland or dry/stale but the fresh fruit was tasty. All in all, the experience of the wonderful show, nice venue, pleasant wait staff, and delicious self-service coffee added to what I'll deem a great value. We'll definitely be back for more events and recommend checking out the Chicago City Winery.

I recently dined at City Winery Chicago and was impressed by the quality of their dishes, particularly the hanger steak and grilled salmon, which were both flavorful and well-prepared. The ambiance was lively and upscale, with a modern industrial feel that complemented the live music performances. However, the noise level was a bit high during the concert, making conversation challenging at times. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I look forward to returning.

I visited City Winery Chicago for dinner plus a show and was charmed by the intimate, wine-country meets urban vibe and exposed brick decor. The food was decent—small plates and steaks—but I thought the portions were a bit light for the price and some dishes lacked wow flavor. The acoustics and ambiance were a real highlight, making the live music feel close and immersive, though the dining layout felt cramped and tight at my table. Overall, it was a special night with good food and musical flair, but not without a few trade-offs

Food was great atmosphere was great. The server we had was so so. We absolutely enjoyed the concert. We were pretty much one of the first ones in there. We had a wonderful salad with the shrimp.Skewers, and we ordered two diet sodas. And then we got dessert and coffee. The gal did not refill our sodas at all.Did not ask for refills on our coffee.Did not hardly see her at all. We had plates in front of us all through the concert. The food like I said, was incredible. The service was so so. We saw other servers doing a lot better than ours was.

I attended a concert for Elle Varner a couple of days ago and had a ball! I got there when the doors opened an hour before the show so I could have dinner. My waitress Joanne was so pleasant and the food and drinks were good. I miss when the events had a more extensive menu (there were more options when I went to the Eric Bennet concert a couple years back) but otherwise no complaints. Will be back in the fall for a comedy show, love the live events that city winery puts on.
